In real life we shouldn't have to explain. In fiction, the reader wants answers. It's not always easy to explain in life, but I guess we have to attempt to explain in our stories ... or at least say that the inconsistency can't be explained. For example, I cried buckets at my father's funeral but I was dry-eyed at my mother's. Go figure. I have a specific picture in mind for the cover, so now I just need to take the picture. Easier said than done. Just like the Mary Tyler Moore situation, there may be extenuating circumstances. Looking forward to reading Entrance to Nowhere. There was definitely some romantic tension, but the man interacted with the woman a hundred different ways. He was mean, he was kind, he was understanding, he was impatient. You name it. Though I loved the book as a whole, I don't think the author did a great job of explaining why his reactions to things always differed from one instance to the next. Great post.Amy M. At the funeral of a "cantankerous" neighbor, each of the "girls" had a different reaction to her death. As you wrote, that happens in fiction and in real life.Patricia Gligor's Writers Forumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16801554698484928100noreply@blogger.com
